Volunteering at Minsteracres

Volunteers are the mainstay of what we provide at Minsteracres. In fact you could say we couldn’t survive without them. Our dining room relies on the service of volunteers, and it may well be a volunteer who greets you when you arrive.

Look around the grounds (all 110 acres of them) and you can be sure that our conservation volunteers will have been involved at some point in planting trees, building paths, clearing woodland and other activities.

But it doesn’t stop there. If you have a skill, we can probably use it! Why not contact the volunteer team today and let us know how you would like to help? Alternatively, if you would like to volunteer please complete the application form at the bottom of this page and click the ‘Submit’ button.

If you fancied joining this dedicated band  you’ll get the satisfaction of being a valued part of a vibrant community and working in a fabulous setting. You’ll be offered support and training, and the opportunity to meet and mix with other volunteers. You’ll also get a taste of the peace and tranquility that Minsteracres is famous for.

You won’t be out of pocket – we’ll reimburse mileage and other expenses, though you will need your own transport as we are not well served by public transport here.

We’ll take care of the practical details: you will be properly insured, have training in health and safety, and will be treated fairly.  We will also carry out the necessary background checks before you start.

Volunteer with Us and be part of a valued and vibrant community in a fabulous setting

What Our volunteers Say

How to Find Us

We are renowned for peace, tranquility and the feeling of stepping away from the hustle and bustle of life. The first thing our visitors notice when they come up the drive is our awe inspiring avenue of giant redwoods – one of the largest collections in the UK.  Our 110 acre estate comprises parkland, ancient woodland, gardens, lakes and walks suitable for all abilities.

We are easily accessible by car just off the A68 and there are frequent train and bus services to the nearest train station in Riding Mill village.  By car we are 40 minutes from Newcastle and 40 minutes from Durham.

If you have any queries about your journey, please call us on 01434 673 248 or Contact Us
