Message to the Passionist Community at Minsteracres
The coming year will be a special time of grace and celebration for Passionist communities throughout the world as you celebrate the tercentenary jubilee of the Congregation.
The Congregation of the Passion has done much to serve the Church in this country for many years. Our minds turn not only to the great missionary figures of the 19th century, especially Blessed Dominic Barberi and the Venerable George Spencer but also to those countless Fathers and Brothers who have served the Church so well by living your special charism of preaching the crucified Christ and identifying with those on the margins.
It is a great privilege for us in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle to have a house of your Congregation very much at the heart of our diocesan life. Since moving to Minsteracres, you have contributed much to the Church in the North East in your parish ministry and by providing a place of retreat, rest and peace to many.
On behalf of our diocese, I would like to thank you for all that you do and look forward to celebrating the tercentenary with you in the course of the next year.
