This memory is more than a looking back to the cruel end of the life of a man who lived in Palestine, 2000 years ago. When we remember Christ’s passion we call to mind something that continues to take place in the lives of men and women, in our own lives and in the life of the planet.
Life is being diminished around us and in different ways. Suffering and pain is experienced because of illness, separation, injustice or exploitation of people and the earth.
The memory of Christ in his passion may be seen as a life giving memory because we remember in the light of Easter and in the hope of the resurrection.
This is symbolised by the Passionist sign which has found a creative expression in the Minsteracres logo. This sign combines the cross with the heart, which points at the love and compassion of God. It inspires us to offer hospitality and space where people may find healing, reconciliation and peace.
As the days are lengthening during this season of Lent, may we see the signs of life and offer hope to those who experience darkness.
