It’s that time of year again when the sun shines (we hope!) on our summer fayre.
Coming up fast on Saturday 9th July from 11am – 4pm, there will be all the familiar activities including children’s games on the lawn, craft demonstrations, bottle tombola, plant sale, grand draw, books, prize bingo and home baking.
Live music will be provided by the popular Ukes of Northumberland, as well as a harpist and an organ recital in the chapel.
This year there will be two cafes serving some of the best scones in Northumberland, as well as light lunches and cake. There will be ice cream too, so bring an appetite.
“It’s a great day out and a fab fundraiser,” says Margo Mooney, chair of the parish’s social committee. “We parishioners at St Elizabeth’s at Minsteracres like to make a contribution to the work of the retreat centre. Last year we raised around £2000 which went straight into the fund for the new showers in the retreat house.
“We hope to match that figure this year and again it will go to update the bedrooms as part of the latest phase of the retreat house refurbishment.
“You can help us raise money for this great cause, and the lucky person who bags first prize in the draw will go away £250 the richer!”
