The three-day flower festival at Minsteracres in July was a huge success.

“it was a great way of bringing people to Minsteracres who wouldn’t normally come,” said Frances McGhee, who led the Minsteracres flower team. ”There was a terrific atmosphere about the place, and our team worked well with the South of Tyne Flower Club throughout.”

Proceeds were shared between Minsteracres and the flower club, with the retreat house restoration fund the beneficiary of healthy £4,600.

“We were stunned by the £1,380 we took on the raffle and the catering was terrific,” says Frances, “The café took £1,500 over the three days.

“Parish and retreat centre volunteers were out in force, and our thanks go to them for their help and hard work.”
