On 25 January we received the sad news of the death of our dear friend and community member Brian Alderson. Although he hadn’t been well for a while, his death came as a great shock.

Brian first came to Minsteracres as a retreatant many years ago and didn’t like it! But he came back and kept coming back. He then became a volunteer in the dining room and gradually got involved in maintenance jobs around the house. He loved being here and taking part in the life of the community. Then, in 2010, he and Pat joined the resident community on a part-time basis.

We remember his prayerful and gentle presence, his hospitality and kindness to retreatants and visitors and his resourcefulness in maintaining and decorating the house.

We are grateful to Brian for his generosity, dedication and friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with Pat and the family. May Brian rest in God’s eternal peace.
