Volunteers and friends gathered together in February to kick off our retreat year with their own dedicated weekend. As well as many long-standing friends, we had a few people new to the experience, and it seems they loved it!
Malcolm Railton, one of our conservation volunteers, and his wife Glynis were two of the newcomers. “I’d been to parish weekends, but never on retreat before,” said Malcolm. As Anglicans they were not sure what to expect, but felt instantly welcomed.
“Everyone is accepted for who they are and we met such a range of different people,” said Glynis, “It was lovely that the priests and sisters were such a part of it. It was great for me to be on the other side of the fence – I’m usually the one arranging things in our church!
“The room was lovely – comfortable and warm, and the food too. We felt very welcome.”
So much so, that Glynis has been spreading the word, “I’ve spoken to quite a few people about it and told them how lovely it was. We’ll definitely be coming back!”
