Outreach

Minsteracres with its spacious grounds and surroundings, is known for its beauty and hospitality. The beauty of nature and the peace of this place have a healing effect on people.

As well as our other retreat work, we provide short breaks for those who are experiencing some difficulties in their life. We offer good food, a range of complementary therapies from reflexology to counselling, an art workshop, space together to share stories and insights, and rituals, as well as time apart. Guests are free to opt in to the prayer life of the community if they choose.

We also offer similar breaks or away days for various groups of refugees .

Refugees

Since 2003 we have welcomed various groups of refugees. Some come for a day to enjoy the freedom and safety offered at Minsteracres. Some come for ‘Peace gardening’, where work in the garden is followed by a shared lunch. Some come for an extended programme where in the safety and hospitality of Minsteracres they find the freedom to share their stories.

Comments of refugees

“I have enjoyed everyday since we came here especially the morning devotion (prayer time), the quietness of the countryside, the Spring board activities. I also enjoyed the trip to the Reservoir, jewellery making and the beauty session. The food this time was amazing. Also the weather and the bonfire. I really enjoyed having a lot of fruits and juice every time”.

We really enjoyed while we being here and the people who are here, they are very nice, served us very friendly. Also the food was very fantastic. The room was very clean and the bed is very comfortable. The children very enjoyed especially my son, he doesn’t want to go back to Newcastle. However we had a fabulous time. Thank you very much hope to see you again.”
