This year’s singing week will be a time filled with music, laughter and fellowship as we celebrate ten years of this wonderful retreat.  This is the 10th anniversary.

Monique has conducted choirs and led singing workshops across Europe for many years. We are delighted to celebrate this Minsteracres milestone!

Walking retreat

Enjoy a walk of seven to ten miles through the beautiful countryside around Minsteracres, with time for prayer, reflection and sharing of the beauty of creation. You will need suitable walking boots and warm, weatherproof clothing. Please bring a packed lunch.

This walking retreat will take place on Wednesday 2nd September starting at 10:00am and ending at 5:00pm.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales has decided that 2020 be a year of focus on the Bible and ‘The God Who Speaks’. Throughout this ‘Year of the Word’ we will be developing and exploring new ways of responding to the God who speaks to us through the Scriptures, new ways of celebrating, living and sharing God‘s word in our own lives, within our parishes and partnerships, and with all whom we encounter. We invite you to join us for a weekend of prayer, reflection and fellowship. For individuals or groups from parishes and partnerships.

This retreat will start on Friday 11 Sept at 7pm and end on Sunday 13 September at 2pm.

On a journey with the Northern Saints

Find out more about their world and spirituality, and visit the iconic places where they lived out their faith. Delve into the meeting of Celtic and Roman traditions in the Golden Age of Northumbria. Includes visits to Holy Island, Bamburgh, Durham and other early monastic sites.

The way of the embodied contemplative

This retreat will explore how the practice of meditation can also be encountered through the language of the body using breathing exercises, gentle stretching and slow Tai Chi movements to complement the seated meditation periods. Suitable for all ages and abilities. Please wear loose clothing.

Terry Doyle is a Benedictine Oblate with the World Community for Christian Meditation, and a founder member of Jason Chan’s Light Foundation. He is an experienced workshop and retreat leader who also works in the areas of homelessness, addiction and social justice.

Spoken in song–what we have learned and can still learn from a good hymn

A chance to discuss and sing some favourites as well as learn some new songs including songs from Taizé, songs in other languages and songs of peace and unity as well as faith. Let’s unite in song!

Janet Swan is an experienced choir leader and member of the Natural Voice Network. She leads a number of choirs and events. The emphasis is always on singing in the voice you were born with and building your confidence and love of singing.
